Iran now has enough fissile material to build a Nuclear bomb, according to Adm. Mike Mullen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Mullens’ reference was to low-enriched uranium, not sufficient for building nuclear weapons with but is very easily upgraded to weapons grade uranium. It is believed that Iran currently has at least one metric ton of low-enriched uranium.

Iran is Building Nukes
Iran has now reached breakout capability, that is they are in a position to renege on the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty), an act that could lead to war, and throw out inspectors. The IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), has stated that Iran could have Nuclear weapons within one to two years. Perhaps Iran sees the capability of the production of nuclear missiles as a self-defense mechanism they could use to thwart their adversaries; this is the view point of IAEA Director-General Mohamed ElBaradei.
I myself wouldn’t trust Mohamed ElBaradei. He is of middle-eastern origin and has many ties and loyalties in that part of the world to cloud his objectivity.
The Israelis are worried that the window of opportunity for a military strike is closing. The Iranians are

S-300 Surface-to-Air Missiles
awaiting the delivery of about 30 Russian made S-300 Surface-to-Air Missile systems reportedly worth $700 million that were contracted out in 2005. The implementation of these missile systems will make the potential success of a military air strike far less certain. This transaction is likely to trigger an Israeli action, time is of the essence the opportunity for diplomacy is running thin. President Obama is trying to work out a deal with the Russians, promising to scrap U.S. plans for an eastern European missile defense shield in exchange for pulling the plug on the S-300 sale to Iran.
You may remember two or three years ago the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said they would wipe Israel off the face of the earth. Needless to say a nuclear armed Iran does not appeal to the Israelis or many other neighbors in the middle-east who fear being caught in the middle of a war between Iran and Israel.
To make matters worse the Iranians are sitting on large stockpiles of fissile materials such as Yellow Cake and raw uranium ore. This makes it difficult to prevent Iran from attaining needed materials for for nuclear weapons. Enough fissile materials, according to Foxnews, to potentially produce as many as 50 warheads.
Eugene Habiger, a retried four-star general and former commander in chief of the U.S. Strategic Command, and Nancy Soderberg, a former ambassador to the U.N. and National Security Council staffer during the Clinton administration, think it is still possible for the United States to persuade Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons with the help of Russia, China and Persian Gulf allies. This seems highly unlikely since Russia is selling Iran the missile systems for $700 million and many of the Persian Gulf nations fear retribution for standing against Iran who has openly funded and supplied terror organizations Hamas and Hezbollah.
In the past Iran has been difficult at best to negotiate with. Just ask Jimmy Carter. I’m sure most of us are aware of the 52 American hostages they held without reason for a protracted period back in the 1970s in which a failed rescue attempt killed several U.S. service men. This is going to call for serious measures if we are to keep the Iranians from procuring nuclear weapons.
That being said; How can Islamo-fascist fanatics from obtaining weapons WMDs?
Its a Cracked World!
