"The war is lost."---Harry Reid

Can anyone seriously trust this man with anything, especially the nations fiscal health? Pay-go is a sham.

I saw on the news today that his stepping aside is not going to be temporary. He has been replaced by Sander Levin (D) from Michigan. They said that poor old charlie might not even seek reelection now. Can't imagine why.

He's the real Slim Shady. I remember, back in high school, I was a lifeguard at a condo in DC and I first saw fat cat Rangel waddle down to the pool with his backrobe, slippers, big cigar in his mouth, and massive pot belly swinging around. He sat around laughing and joking with several people. When I was told later who he was he just seemed like a crook. That was 20 years ago. I'd like to see this guy raked over the coals for what he's done (like keeping those rent controlled Harlem apartments).

Good point Harrison,

I think if you want to collect the benefits you should have to be doing something constructive in addition to looking for work. Going back to school and learning some new skills, for instance, is a very constructive way to spend your employment Hiatus. Volunteering is another way to contribute in some way in exchange for your benefits received. I also advocate drug testing as well.

Thanks Matt,

I'm sure your right about their intentions but really it has already come back to bite them. Bunning challenged them Paying for expenditures, it won't be the last time this happens. The Republicans are going to do this every time they try to spend more money we don't have.

Raising taxes no doubt is an angle they will pursue but PayGo will be brought up every time they can't cover the expense..... at least until both sides abandon fiscal responsibility again.

Great assessment. I do fear, however, that the Democrats are signing on to PAYGO in order to use it as a rationalization to raise taxes. It's a means to a very different end. After all, it's not like they're going to limit spending.
