Cap and Trade Not Good for America?

After all the out of control spending the Obama Administration has engaged in supposedly to stimulate the economy it seems that he is contradicting his own efforts. His cap and trade program is designed to reduce carbon emissions from the production processes of factories in the United States. It could prove to have negative effects on the progress of economic recovery.

In short Cap-and-trade is a concept where the Government will issue an allowance or Cap of Carbon Credits, which is Al Gore speak for the right to burn carbon, the businesses of America would be charged for the amount of Carbon Credits they project to burn (no pun intended); once a factory uses all its Carbon Credits it would have to buy or trade for more credits to continue doing business or be taxed horrendously for exceeding its Carbon Credit limit. The total amount of Carbon Credits available to be bought  sold or burned is not to exceed the Cap or allowance put forth by the Federal Government, therefore “Capping” the amount of carbon emissions the nation can produce annually.

Thus, in theory, those that can easily reduce emissions will, and this is supposed to achieving the pollution reduction at the lowest cost to the American consumer.

Not so fast says Mike Pence, a Republican Rep. from Indiana, his theory says it will “cost” the American consumer.

“I think, rightly understood, the cap-and-trade legislation represents an economic declaration of war on the Midwest by liberals in Washington.”

Pence says a proposal by congressional Democrats to regulate gases blamed for global warming could cost the average American household more than $3,000 a year in higher energy costs.

Politicians, particularly from the left, like Cap and Trade because they can claim to tax only the big polluters. In reality, once the government turns pollution into a commodity to be bought and traded, and then requires businesses to purchase this commodity the cost  incurred from  these purchases will be passed on to the consumer (that’s you and me).

From the Wall Street Journal:

Hit hardest would be the “95% of working families” Mr. Obama keeps mentioning, usually omitting that his no-new-taxes pledge comes with the caveat “unless you use energy.” Putting a price on carbon is regressive by definition because poor and middle-income households spend more of their paychecks on things like gas to drive to work, groceries or home heating.

The Congressional Budget Office  estimates that the price hikes from a 15% cut in emissions would cost the average household in the bottom-income quintile about 3.3% of its after-tax income every year. That’s about $680, not including the costs of reduced employment and output. The three middle quintiles would see their paychecks cut between $880 and $1,500, or 2.9% to 2.7% of income. The rich would pay 1.7%. Cap and trade is the ideal policy for every Beltway analyst who thinks the tax code is too progressive (all five of them).

But the greatest inequities are geographic and would be imposed on the parts of the U.S. that rely most on manufacturing or fossil fuels — particularly coal, which generates most power in the Midwest, Southern and Plains states. It’s no coincidence that the liberals most invested in cap and trade — Barbara Boxer, Henry Waxman, Ed Markey — come from California or the Northeast.

Coal provides more than half of U.S. electricity, and 25 states get more than 50% of their electricity from conventional coal-fired generation. In Ohio, it totals 86%, according to the Energy Information Administration. Ratepayers in Indiana (94%), Missouri (85%), New Mexico (80%), Pennsylvania (56%), West Virginia (98%) and Wyoming (95%) are going to get soaked.

Lessons to be learned from European Cap and Trade

BusinessWeek has a break down of the Euro-experiment with these concepts of recent years. They are less than encouraging, as is the case with most of Europe’s  socialistic programs. Here is a snippet of their take on the pitfalls Europe has encountered with Cap and Trade.

Companies are granted a certain number of carbon units (the “cap”) that they can sell on the open market if their CO2 output falls below its assigned level or buy as needed to offset output above the limit.

Problem is, the price of carbon credits in Europe has plummeted by two-thirds since July 2008 because of tumbling commodity prices and contracting industrial output. The more it costs to offset CO2 production, the greater incentive companies have to switch to more environmentally friendly technologies. Yet analysts reckon the current price of less than €10 ($13) per metric ton of CO2, compared with la

st summer’s highs of €30 ($38), just doesn’t provide enough economic impetus to go green. In other words, it’s cheaper to pollute.

“The carbon price volatility has hurt long-term investment in renewables,” says Colette Lewiner, global energy, utilities, and chemicals leader at consultancy Capgemini (CAPP.PA). “When the price is so low, it plays no role in investment decisions concerning lower CO2-generating power plants.”
Reverting to Coal

The steep fall in the price of carbon credits is sending ripples through European industry and power companies. According to New Carbon Finance analyst Olivier Lejeune, last year’s record carbon price led many of Europe’s utilities-which constitute the largest sector covered under the ETS-to switch from highly polluting coal-fired plants to more efficient natural gas facilities. But after emissions costs began to fall, energy companies reverted to coal because it was more economic to buy cheap carbon credits in the market than continue using more environmentally friendly natural gas. “Recently, the use of coal has massively intensified,” Lejeune says.

Other Possible Pitfalls of Cap and Trade

This plan won’t do anything to make Earth more “green,” all it will do is hamstring our economy. Other nations in the world won’t adopt an emissions reduction plan of any kind because they simply don’t care about it. Countries like Russia, India, Brazil, and North Korea will pollute as much as they want. That will drive industry out of America and into countries without emissions taxes.

It will soon become cheaper to buy energy from Mexico than produce it here.

My take on government in general is that if you give them an inch they will take a mile. The Federal Government doesn’t know where to draw the line; they never have.

So where will this stop?

Use your imagination, maybe cap and trade on the number of cigarettes and cigars you are allowed to smoke in a year?

Maybe you’ll be carbon taxed by the mileage on your car based on whats under the hood.

And of course lets not forget their spending budgets are limited by the amount of Tax revenues they take in too and look how that little scheme works; they spend money they don’t have anyway so what happens when they decide they don’t have enough? Will they just raise the limit?

Its a Cracked World and this is just one more reason why.

Garofalo and Left Wingers Attack the American People

Politics | Posted by C.C.Mitchell
Apr 22 2009

Janeane Garofalo is one of the worst liberal extremists I have ever seen.  She is constantly making ethnic slurs towards people she disagrees with. A key leader in the Left Wing Terrorist Movement, she attacked those Americans who chose to demonstrate legally and peacefully at the Tax Day TEA Parties (Taxes Enough Already - TEA). These protesters only wish to be heard, and to let their representatives in Congress know that they are unhappy with the way they have been represented.

Of course the terrorist leader Garofalo missed the point of the parties, or at least she pretends not to understand it, claiming that this had nothing to do with the Boston Tea Party which was about taxation without representation; These TEA Parties were about Taxation with Misrepresentation.

Case in point:

These TEA Partiers are upset with their Republican representative Congressman Gresham Barrett, who supported the TARP bill they so staunchly opposed. Because of this he did not receive a warm greeting.

This is exhibit A, let it show that Nancy Pelosi is wrong (as usual) this was not what she called ‘AstroTurf‘ or fake grassroots; these are genuine grassroots efforts, not organized by the Republican Leadership which is what she wants all those who are naive enough to listen to her drivel. Our friends at Just a Regular Guy have more on this Moron.

Its high time Obama, Pelosi, Garofalo, Janet Napolitano, and the rest of the Leftwing terrorist movement are taken to the woodshed on all the misinformation they have been spreading.

As I stated earlier Garofalo is the worst of the bunch. For instance if you agree with the TEA party movement or any of the other issues listed in the DHS Report entitled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment,” this is what she said about you according to NewsBusters:

It’s not about bashing Democrats, it’s not about taxes, they have no idea what the Bost

on tea party was about, they don’t know their history at all. This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up. That is nothing but a bunch of teabagging rednecks.

You can tell these type of right wingers anything and they’ll believe it, except the truth. You tell them the truth and they become — it’s like showing Frankenstein’s monster fire. They become confused, and angry and highly volatile.

After all of that she begins to divulge the very plan the Leftwing Terrorist movement has set in place but she is trying to pin it on the Conservative base:

There’s no shortage of the natural resources of ignorance, apathy, hate, fear. As long as those things are in the collective conscious and unconscious, the Republicans will have some votes. Fox News will have some viewers.

Janeane Garofalo is the one engaging in hate speech here, she is the one spreading fear, she is the one planting these thoughts in the unconscious minds of the liberal lackies of America.

These are the very things that all of the Liberal left politicians would like to say but can’t because they know they’ll loose votes from people who have taken off their tinfoil hats. I call them all terrorist because they are trying to destroy our way of life by what ever means necessary. They referred to the protesters or any one who opposes The Obama Regime as a Right Wing Extremist or Terrorist. All these people wanted to do was be heard, they wanted to let their representatives in congress know that they didn’t support the President’s policies. In the eyes of a Liberal Left wing Extremist that makes them right wing terrorists.

The information as transcribed by Newsbusters is from an interview with Keith Olbermann, of MSNBC, and the VIDEO is from none other than CNN. The army is large and their followers are many. But MSNBC and CNN can not compete with FOXNews in the ratings game. Proof that the majority of Americans aren’t drinking the Koolaid; the lefts’ weapons are weak.

Obama Cuts $100 Million From Budget

Politics | Posted by C.C.Mitchell

Obamanomics

Obamanomics

Today President Obama asked his Cabinet members to trim some fat off the pudgy budget passed a few short weeks ago. Perhaps he is having a change of heart about his stifling tax and spend tactic. Not so fast! The President asked officials to cut $100 million from the budget. This is like a cruel joke on tax payers.

At first I thought maybe President Obama heard the rallying cries of Tea Partiers across the nation last week, and decided to appease them the way he does all of our international opponents with a spending cut. Upon reading further into the request it became obvious that this was not the case. He was busy listening to leaders of foreign countries and apologizing for America being America; but he didn’t listen to his own people and apologize for wasting tax payers’ money.

The Planned Budget Cuts

FoxNews Provided a list of budget cuts that Obama claims will lead to fiscal responsibility:

  • The Veterans Affairs department has canceled or delayed 26 conferences, projected to save nearly $17.8 million. The department will be using less expensive alternatives as well, like video conferencing.
  • The Department of Agriculture is working to combine 1,500 employees from seven office locations into a single facility in 2011 — expected to save $62 million over a 15-year lease term.
  • The Department of Homeland Security estimates it can save up to $52 million over five years by purchasing office supplies in bulk. It also estimates it can save $3 million by ending consulting contracts to create new seals and logos.
  • Both the Department of Justice and State Department propose going paperless with specific programs. Doing so is projected to save $6.7 million on the Justice side over five years, and $1 million on the State side in the first year.
  • The Department of Education expects to save $2 million annually by reducing the number of computers provided to staff.

This is a half-hearted attempt at best, to make it look like he cares about saving the tax payers’ hard earned money. Whats more he gave his department heads 90 days to make a collective $100 million in budget cuts. He didn’t give GM 90 days to save billions and avoid bankruptcy.

The meager $100 million in budget cuts doesn’t even scratch the surface of what a real budget cut would look like.

House Minority Leader John Boehner

House Minority Leader John Boehner

House Minority Leader John Boehner of Ohio pointed out that $100 million in cuts would amount to just 0.0025% of total federal spending for fiscal 2009, expected to reach $4 trillion. The Wall Street Journal pointed out that the federal government spends $100 million about every 13 minutes.

In short, cutting $100 million from a $4 trillion spending budget is like emptying removing one Tea spoon of water from an ocean.

As a tax payer I consider his budget cuts to be a huge slap in the face.

Mr. Obama campaigned last fall that he would bring change to Washington, what he didn’t say was that it would be pocket change.

It’s a Cracked World!

CNN Crashes the Tea Party

Politics | Posted by C.C.Mitchell
Apr 17 2009

Wednesday April 15th, Tea partiers across the nation gathered to speak out in one resounding voice, that taxes are too high, and so is the spending. The Tax day Tea Party may well become an annual event and I expect it to grow in popularity each year until the issues in protest are addressed.

Much in response to President Obamas’ “uber spending” and budgetary insanity. People gathered in over 250 locations across America in all 50 states to protest the mishandling of tax payer dollars. Specifically the Bush bank bailouts (its not all about Obama), The nearly $800 billion Stimulus Package laden with pork, and the $3.6 trillion budget for 2010. I have seen signs as well condemning the siezure of private companies, and a brilliant one that said, “America isn’t broken FIX Congress!”

Despite the huge turn outs that saw many political pundits and radio personalities such as Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, and Glen Beck. Even Ted Nugent showed up, guitar in hand. All to cover the story, or in Teds case to entertain some REAL Americans. Of course the Liberal Powers-that-be, most notably CNN (Communist Network News), sent out their smear machine on the public. CNN sent out so called reporter Susan Roesgen to offend them all.

Check out the Youtube below.

What does this have to do with Taxes?!?

Is she nuts, or just stupid?

This man is obviously smart enough to know that his “$400 tax credit” will be eclipsed ten fold by the taxes he will submit for the rest of his life to pay for the stupidity of Congress.

Anti-government– NO!

Anti-Fascist Congress –YES!

I seen no signs that said down with CNN so I’m not sure how it was Anti-CNN

This kind of journalistic vomit is the worst that the media has to offer. She not only rudely interrupted some one who was trying to answer a question she asked, but than accused Rightwing organizations and FOXNews of arranging all of the tea parties.

OK put on the breaks! Just a moment here.  If the Rightwing party organizations, Those EVIL republicans and Foxnews were behind it all they would have had the proper permits needed to assemble which in some areas of the country they didn’t.

Get a clue Susan you have to let people answer the questions you ask if you want to be considered a journalist. If your disappointed that the Tax Protesters were not the hey seed hicks you expected from those who think to the right than don’t ask them questions.

If you listen closely you can hear people telling her to “shut up.”

I don’t ever recall this kind of treatment for Cindy Sheehan when she protested the Iraq War. Where the hell was CNN and Susan Roesgen then?

Where was she when those sick bastards were protesting outside the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq?

Why is it that when Liberals protest its freedom of speech and when conservatives do it its just Hate speech?

Its a Cracked World!
